Research and planning - Ancillary designs

This Week my partner and i have been designing both the CD pack and the magazine advert. Our artist we have chosen mostly uses a dark or black background with a bright, bold colour. Our plan for the front cover is to use the eyes of the actor and have the name "Skrillex" in a large bold font with a green glow. Our plan for the back is to have the skrillex three red line logo, repeated over a black background.

The inside covers we want to be simple and have a collage of the images from our video.

Research and planning - Ancillary task

After looking into the different styles of front cover that is used by our artist 'Skrillex' i then decided to go into further detail and look at all the codes and conventions that are found on all album covers, front and back. This is now what we need to consider when creating our own cover.

Research and planning - Ancillary task

Looking into previous album and single covers by Skrillex, we found that the main theme running throughout all of these were that there was little imagery and mostly just bold text with a singular, bold colour used to represent the theme of the album. There is also the diamond shape in the background to correspond with his main logo of the three red lines. I feel that these themes are appropriate for this genre of music because the bold colours echoes the conventions of the music being loud and bold. What we will take as inspiration from this research is that we shall continue with the sharp style of type and the iconic three red line logo.

Planning and Research - improvement on the video

To improve our video further we plan to include the MTV base symbol in the top right hand corner in order to make the video look as though it is being professionally played on the television channel best suited to the genre. MTV Base is a 24-hour music and general entertainment channel from Viacom International Media Networks Europe. The channel focuses primarily on music from the world of R'n'B, hiphop, reggae, soul and urban. The MTV Base brand first launched in the United Kingdom and in the Republic of Ireland on 1 July 1999.
